2nd Conference on Nanotechnologies and Biomedical Engineering

On 18 April 2013, the 2nd International Conference on Nanotechnology and Biomedical Engineering (ICNBME-2013) started. The event is organized by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Technical University of Moldova, University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicholae Testemitanu" and Biomedical Engineering Society in Moldova.

Researchers of various profiles - physicists, chemists, electronic engineers, doctors, computer specialists, from over 20 states, including Germany, France, Britain, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, USA, Japan, Greece, Lithuania, Portugal , Spain, Romania, Russia, Moldova, etc. discussed the possible uses of nanotechnologies and nanomaterials in biomedicine.

The opening plenary session of the conference, hosted by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemitanu" was attended by HE Matthias Meyer, German Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Hotineanu, president of the parliamentary commission for social protection, health and family, Leonid Bujor, adviser to Prime Minister, Acad. Gheorghe Duca, President of ASM, Acad. Ion Ababii USMF rector, Acad. Valeriu Canter, President of CNAA, business people, students, researchers.

In his opening speech, Acad. Ion Tighineanu, first deputy president of the ASM and the chairman of the program committee of the Conference, welcomed the guests to the scientific forum. Stressing the importance and purpose of the Conference, Acad. Ion Tighineanu noted that this is an opportunity to exchange the latest information from many laboratories of the world, to discuss the most interesting discoveries in the fields of nanotechnology and biomedical engineering, and an opportunity to initiate new collaborations. He noted that Moldova, as an FP7 associated country, must build strong partnerships with other countries from the European Union, as well as the U.S. and Japan.

During the conference that lasts three days, will be presented more than 170 scientific papers. During the conference will take place the Moldovan-German symposium on new materials for electronic, photonic and biomedical applications.

ICNBME Forum 2013 is part of the series of events aimed at preparing the scientific community from Moldova for wide participation in EU research programs.
