On 3 July 2011 the first Summer School in nano-technology and biomedical engineering "Nano-Bioengineering-2011" started. This event is part of the FP7 project MOLD-ERA and will take place in the period July 3 – 7, 2011.
At the opening of the Summer School prof. Ion Tighineanu, vice president of ASM and MOLD-ERA project manager, underlined it was the first multidisciplinary Summer School at the intersection of several fields organized in Moldova, aimed at developing creative skills and training specialists for our country. Project manager expressed the hope that this interaction and integration into the European Research Area will create more opportunities and eventually lead to creation of joint ventures, involving the young generation of highly-qualified specialists.
Prof. Victor Şontea, head of Semiconductor Devices chair from the Technical University of Moldova and the Director of Summer School, said this event is intended to familiarize young researchers having relevant qualifications in medicine, bioengineering with actual issues related to nano-technologies application in medicine, as well as to for the experts in nano-technology to be introduced to medical bioengineering problems.
Summer School "Nano-Bioengineering-2011" brought together 30 young researchers and students, selected through competition from various research institutions of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, State Medical and Pharmaceutical University "N.Testemitanu", Technical University of Moldova, research institutes of the Ministry of Health and representatives of the business sector.
Through the duration of the Summer School lectures will be supported by teachers and researchers from partner organizations, including: Medical School Hannover (Germany), Center for Device Thermography and Reliability (Bristol, UK), Technical University of Moldova, State Medical and Pharmaceutical University "N. Testemitanu" and Institute of Electronic Engineering and Nanotechnology of the Academy of Sciences. The first lecture was delivered by Ion Tighineanu, MOLD-ERA project manager.
NITECH company representatives, who came with high-tech equipment for nano-technology and biomedicine, will conduct practical courses for the students. The Summer School will end with a final test. At the end of the course, participants will attend the International Conference on Nanotechnologies and Biomedical Engineering, which takes place on 7-8 July, at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "N. Testemitanu", 165 Stefan cel Mare str.
